Far from nowhere

In the tangled mist of dreams

The harp cycles through strings

The ivory tinkles, at the fingertips

Skydust drizzles from the reefs

The shore leaves for an evening

Walking springtime on stilts

Leaking words, just barely

From the last open breach

A palm on the tall grass

Squeezed a tearful of quartz

At the last chapter’s page

A hot slice of your breath

And a locket of hair

In the overtone palace

An I for an I

A truth for a truth

How many times must one die

Until one stops feeling dead

Dancing in a dark room

To the beat of your name

And the white stag shines in the rain, while the night takes all

While branches brandish thorns, while the clouds stoop and fall, connected by the chain

Pulled down to Earth’s bowel, yawning in dark vowels, devours the sky whole

Because you,

Because you,

Because you’re...

The homeward howls

And the carillon crows,

Like gospel in the tempest

Feelings bloom unsane

Strangely tucked away

In the shoulder blades

The sweet rush of fear

And the clumsy display

A little leap of love

A little lump of hope

A little paper dream

A little tune of awe

Because I,

Because I...

Down the jagged alleyway

The flag stiff and unhindered

The wishes stand muffled

Voices drown in the dusk

Plucking at heartlashes,

The soft blowing hush

What of the mind, of the decay

For whom the heart makes its way

What of the sound, the piercing wave

Its ripples left in my skin

What of these lights, warm and caring

Easing through my shut eyelids

And what of this field of brass, of its laced glowing reeds

What of its blushing wind, of its perfumed stampede, of its palpable mass

Of its low humming song, rumbling like a storm on a hot summer’s eve

Because you,

Because you’re,

Because you’re so...

The needle shifts

The cover rips

Empty colours in the spills

Something made of felt

Melting from the quill

A river in the back

A shiver and a shrill

A little glimpse of home

A little glint of soul

A little mending world

For a little while whole

Because you’re,

You’re so,

So, so,

Much

Somewhere falling upwards

A stutter on the inside

A winged sign, too numb to fly

Dragging memories behind

The naked nerves of lost time

Somewhere always never right

Because I,

Because I’m...

I’m as scattered as I seem

The crooked kind of key

Skipping stones on bloodstreams

Nobody for nothing

Stargazing till the eyes

Turn to dry endless pits

Will you take me far from here

Just once more, just to be

A complete casualty

Of your pure reality

Will you take everything from me

To let love unswerving

And purpose crystal clear

From nowhere be released

Because you are

So, so much

You’re so

So, so, so, so

Much
